Overview
The Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) represents over 1.8 million students across the largest higher education system in the U.S. When SSCCC needed a professional, accessible website to reflect its expanding role in statewide policy and student advocacy, Aero Design was selected to design, develop, and support a platform tailored to student leaders, administrators, and the public. The result is a vibrant digital presence that supports transparency, participation, and communication at every level.
Challenge
SSCCC required a website that could serve multiple audiences with distinct needs—from students and elected delegates to college administrators and legislators. The platform needed to support meeting notices, governance documents, public comment opportunities, and event promotion, all while remaining ADA-compliant and easy for student-led teams to update. Security and reliability were also top priorities, as the site would host sensitive governance materials and serve as a key public-facing asset.

Our approach
Aero Design worked closely with SSCCC leadership to understand their governance structure, communications workflows, and accessibility requirements. We built a responsive, WCAG-compliant Drupal website with a clear information hierarchy and flexible publishing tools. Special features include a meeting archive with embedded Zoom links and agendas, easy-to-update officer listings, and a news feed for advocacy updates. Training was provided to ensure smooth content management as student leadership transitioned annually.
Results
The SSCCC website now serves as a trusted, go-to source for California community college students and stakeholders. It enables transparency, encourages engagement, and supports efficient communication across all levels of student governance. With Aero Design’s ongoing support, the platform remains secure, accessible, and aligned with SSCCC’s mission to empower student voices across the state.
